Alex Spott is a screenwriter and director based in Brooklyn, NY. She loves navigating the complexities of life through dark comedy and infusing surrealism and magic into seemingly normal situations. She is dedicated to uplifting women and amplifying their voices, on and off camera, aiming to capture the nuances of their complex, beautiful, and absurd experiences with authenticity, empathy, and humor.
Having worked over 10 years in advertising as a writer and creative director, she understands the importance of grabbing people’s attention, answering briefs, collaboration, and masking meaning in art.

Alex spent her childhood writing plays, hugging trees, having a crush on Tuxedo Mask, and shooting movies with the kids in her neighborhood. She spends her adulthood crying in therapy, hanging in nature, writing, going upstate, riding horses, and being addicted to black iced tea.
No Other Gods But Me (2022), her first short film, was selected for 18 festivals and won 10 awards. It’s currently one of the most viewed films of of all time on NoBudge.
She is currently working on her first feature screenplay, And if I die, a dark comedy about grief as told through a wanna-be influencer zombie and her best friend, and looking for funds 💸 for her short film Deadhead about a girl who grows a boyfriend in her garden.
